The Aerojet engine has many industrial and equipment applications including cement mixers, ditching machines, hoists, electric welders, generator sets, portable carpentry and machine shops, pumps, and hydraulic power units. In addition, the engine is used by several manufacturers of generators and pumping equipment for the Armed Forces.
Model No. 1 in the table below is the basic, or stripped engine. Other models numbered 2 through 12 have basic points of difference among the various models, along with a wide variety in optional equipment that was available in the standard models.

In
1954, the Aerojet marine propulsion system was offered to the public
at the list price of $695.00. It was stated to weigh 220 lb. and propel
12 to 20 foot boats up to 30 mph with its 4-Cycle 26 1/2 hp motor and
reverse reduction v-drive, all while saving 50% in fuel costs relative
to comparable outboard motors.
The Aerojet General Corporation offered this complete kit, including the 4-stroke 7.0: 1 compression ratio engine with overhead valves and camshaft configuration, coupled to the Vee-Drive propulsion unit. It was installed as standard equipment by some boat manufacturers such as Lone Star Boats.
It was advertised as a lightweight marine engine sold complete with shaft, rudder, rudder mount, steering cable, ammeter, and oil pressure gauge.
The AeroJet inboard motor was derived from the 4-cylinder Crosley automobile engine with tooling and production rights which were acquired by Aerojet in 1952 after the Crosley auto company ended production. At the time, AeroJet was primarily interested in producing engines for government use, and the engine block was recast with the AeroJet name molded into the block where the Crosley name had formally been.
Crosley
Military Engines would still show up with manufacturing dates of 1953
and Crosley still molded into these blocks as Crosley Corporation still
owned interest, and common stock was still held by investors, so filling
orders with existing Crosley blocks made sense.
AeroJet ended production around 1955 when it sold the production rights
and tooling to Fageol who continued forward
with their own versions of inboard and outboard boat motors.
