About: B.F. Goodrich Sea Flyer Outboards
Sea Flyer was the brand name of Outboard Motors sold by the B.F. Goodrich Tire Company from 1951-1954.
Gale
and Champion Outboard Motors were wholesaled to B.F. Goodrich where
they were marketed under the Sea Flyer brand.
B.F. Goodrich sourced their Sea Flyer outboards from Gale manufacturing for model years 1951 and 1952, and then turned to Champion Outboard Engine company for 1953 and 1954 models. The B.F. Goodrich company made the decision to discontinued outboard sales in 1955.
Champion secured its own manufacturing facility after World War II with outboard production continuing from 1946 through 1957. Their outboards sold through chain stores with store brands such as Voyager, Majestic, and Sea Flyer (sold by B.F. Goodrich). However, in the mid 1950′s, being short on cash, they did not have enough capitol to compete with other manufacturers in the 25-40 hp outboard market, so the rights to Champion products were sold with no new outboards produced after 1959.
