Introduction: Fazer / Faze II / Faze III / Faze IV
The Fazer and Faze II, III, III R and IV PWC personal watercraft were manufactured by Werks Marine Inc. 3552 Saint Johns Bluff Rd. S Jacksonville Florida 32224 under the company name Fazer Marine. Ph. 1-800-458-1904.
They used a fiberglass hull with a picklefork front end design and had an initial length of 88" 7.33' for Fazer followed by 95" 7.92' length for Faze II, and Faze III, then 8' for Faze IV. Common specifications were width 42.5", height 25", weight 250 lbs.
The Cuyuna engine (a snowmobile based 2 stroke engine) was stated in different sources (depending on model) as being 428cc 40hp or 430cc 40-42hp and used a CDI (capacitor discharge ignition). They were propelled by a Brute mixed-flow jet-pump with 340lb of thrust. Faze II, III and IV had the 430 Cuyuna motor with jet-pump.
The standard Cuyuna 430 is a two-stroke twin-cylinder snowmobile motor with a bore of 2.658 in (67.5 mm). It was used in additional applications such as Fazer and other personal watercraft. It was also redesigned and modified to serve as an ultra-light aircraft power-plant. They were manufactured by the Cuyuna Development Company originally for snowmobiles with 40 hp (30 kW) output.
Upgrade options included the Faze III R (the R signifying race) and including high performance parts like the a Cuyuna 440 race pipe or West Coaster tuned pipe with rear exit exhaust, as well as a performance fuel cell and seat options.
